Meet Fletcher

I’ve just begun my journey at Inspire and Initially started as an intern whilst finishing my study, and now I’m in a full-time role. My Intern experience was great as there was an abundance of support along the way. As I transitioned into full-time work, it’s nice to have a consistent routine. I’m so eager to learn more and take on much more work and responsibility.

The work is very fulfilling, especially getting from start to end in a task. Now that I actually understand the scope of my role, I feel much more capable and valuable to the company. After completing my degree, I only had theoretical understanding and it’s so fulfilling to have gained some exposure to practical experience.

Outside of Inspire

I love enjoying time with my amazing partner Steph. Lately, we’ve been enjoying some gaming together and have come to really enjoy the football inspired game ‘rocket league’. When I have the time, I enjoy some light reading to get away from technology. More-so, I just really enjoy the process of finding something to learn.

I definitely try to travel quite a bit, every chance I get. You can find me spending a lot of time chilling, going to restaurants and just getting away. I love the disconnect from daily work life. I also try to take my time when traveling to absorb everything; I’ve adopted a no obligation, go at your own pace type of mentality.

How did you get interested in accounting?

Initially, my mum suggested accounting to me and once I started learning it, I realised how valuable it is in business. Business has always intrigued me as well as how much of an impact they can have when they work efficiently. I love the investing side of business such as financial markets and accounting has been perfect for me to stay in touch with my passion.

What is your favourite thing about working at inspire?

The people. It’s such a close-knit team here and everyone is so unique and special. The team is super understanding of each other and they understand that having a bad day is totally fine, as long as you bounce right back. Ben’s always looking out for the team and trying to help where he can, and his assistance has been instrumental in my smooth transition from part-time to full-time work here.

What is one of the biggest impacts you’ve made?

Definitely with regards to tax planning, just being able to take the load off my Senior Accountant, Gulshan, and assisting him with the delivery and finalisation of tax planning. I’m proud to have been a pivotal part of someone I respect and admire; and to make his time at work easier is a privilege.

What are some shows you recommend?

Definitely Game of Thrones, I jumped on the bandwagon very early on and found myself hooked.

Which Sustainable Development Goal(s) do you choose and why?

I would choose Quality education and climate action. Quality education is extremely important for anything in life and I, myself, value education. It’s taken me to where I am today and as for climate action, I believe that it’s the obligation of mankind to preserve the world for future generations.

Meet Gulshan

My journey with Inspire has truly been incredible! I started as a Bookkeeping intern – fast forward 3 years and I’m now an Account Manager, part of the sales team as well as a mentor to our wider team. After I had obtained my degree, I was looking for anything and everything, but once I came across Inspire, I was captivated. I was desperate to be a part of Inspire as I felt so entwined with their values and you can see that they actually care about other people.

At the time, Inspire didn’t have any available positions but I was determined to be a part of this company. I went all in – stopped applying for all other roles and continually persisted by taking part in their workshops and events till they had no choice but to take me in.

The reason why I have an obligation to be better and constantly improve is just to help the clients at the end of the day and to provide more value. If not given the right advice, I’ve seen how wrong things can go in a business and I don’t want anyone to go through that.

Outside of Inspire

I’m a new dad to our baby boy, Reyansh. My wife Sazel and I are really excited with this next chapter of our lives! The majority of my time is spent trying to be a father and if I am given the time, I cherish time with friends, having a few beers as I love catching up and socialising.

One of my favourite pastimes is playing tennis, but I’m getting out a lot less as Reyansh occupies most of my time now. Otherwise, you can find me attending inspirational events around mental health and sustainability as that is one of my passions.

What is your favourite thing about working at Inspire?

What gives me the most joy is being someone that business owners can trust. I feel that I’m a great listener, and just listening to my clients and being present is my devotion. I’m privileged to be in this position and crave the process of being better. I’ve seen from Ben that some of his best friends are clients and those types of relationships are what I love and aspire to nurture here.

How did you get interested in accounting and business?

My dad has always been in business. As I have constantly been exposed to business and accounting since I was young, I’d start to understand the jargon and internal workings of a business. I also wouldn’t say I have a knack for numbers, but I’ve never been intimidated and so accounting felt like a suitable fit for me.

What is the biggest impact of your business?

In terms of impact, when I started here, it was from the bottom. I’ve taken a very long journey of trials and tribulations. My own story of going through every step and obstacle along the way to becoming a Senior Account Manager is something that people have learnt from and gained motivation from. I feel like I act as an example that there is no ceiling here, and the world is undoubtedly your oyster.

What are some books you recommend?

For new fathers, I’d highly recommend ‘Sleeping Like A Baby’ by Pinky Mckay. As of late, I’ve been reading ‘Becoming’ by Michelle Obama. Just the journey of where she’s come from and what she’s achieved with what little she had is inspirational.

Which Sustainable Development Goal(s) do you choose and why?

I would have to choose sustainable cities and communities, and climate action. I’ve always felt like sustainability should be the default way of life and it should be a given. We’re going to see so much beauty in our lifetime, and we need to preserve that for future generations and it shouldn’t take that much to care about the earth.

Meet Angela

I’ve been with inspire for 2 years as a Client Services Coordinator. Being in this role has been truly life changing for me. My internal dialogue when I started was “I’ve finally found a place where I feel like I belong”. It’s also the first time in my career that I’ve felt like I’ve actually grown.

I’m grateful to have the opportunity to help the people around me, and being able to offer pro-active support to make their lives easier is so gratifying. Being able to be a pillar of support and assistance for the team is everything to me.

Outside of Inspire

Outside of Inspire, my life has revolved around my precious 3 kids. I have 2 boys, Nick and Mitchell, and my beautiful daughter, Emily. Last but definitely not least of our family is our little baby Maltese Shitzu, Gizmo. Our family is everything to me.

Every opportunity we get, we love to go camping and spend quality time with each other. During warmer months, we are crazy about the beach and long for spontaneous day trips.

What is your favourite thing about working at Inspire?

I’d have to say the culture. The fact that the culture is so accepting of everyone is wondrous. Everyone can be themselves, feel confident in their own skin, and appreciated for the effort we put in. We’re here to help people and have fun while doing it – I think it’s perfect.

How did you get interested in client services?

I had entered the industry by chance. Initially I didn’t like it, given the huge change of scenery, and I had always felt like it was menial work and I wasn’t going anywhere. Only at Inspire have I felt fulfilled in the work that I do.

At the time I was at another accounting firm and spontaneously got referred to the position by one of our Senior Accountants that I’d previously worked with and fell in love with Inspire.

What is one of the biggest impacts you’ve made?

The biggest impact I feel is the difference I’ve created with the administration side of things. I’ve been able to get organisational systems implemented that resulted in productivity and improved client experiences which has lessened the load for our Accountants.

What are some books, audio books, podcasts you recommend?

In all honesty, I don’t have a favourite book but I can happily say that I’m currently taking on trying to rediscover my passion for reading.

Which Sustainable Development Goal(s) do you choose and why?

Peace, Justice and strong institutions. I guess justice has always been a big thing for me having seen so much injustice in modern day systems. It would also be really pleasant if true peace could be a reality.

Meet Rhody

I’ve just begun with Journey with Inspire and so far, it’s been an awe-inspiring experience. In inspire, I love the atmosphere, everyone is really friendly and approachable, and even the diversity of my colleagues is eye-opening considering everyone has different origins.

The best part of my role would be helping out Angela and Sequoia. Knowing that I have helped them lessen their workloads and resultantly they’re able to focus more on things and inevitably make a greater impact on the wider team is an incredible feeling. It makes me feel a part of something bigger.

On a personal note, I really like aesthetic things and am drawn to minimalist designs. I aim to be a very neat and organised person which i think is necessary and helpful in my work. Though i may appear shy at first, I’m actually an extrovert at heart.

Outside of Inspire

I spend a lot of my time outside of inspire with my boyfriend, Danny. For pass times, we like to watch Netflix series and watch volleyball games, he is an avid fan and I’m starting to become one too as I’ve begun to play social volleyball. Both my parents work abroad, so I cherish every moment I get to speak with them.

My amazing friends continuously check up on me and have random chats talking about memes to get me out of my bubble.

Once in a while i visit my Lola (grandmother), who lives miles away from the city to taste her home made food and keep her company. I love the ‘Pork Pochero’ that she cooks.

How did you get interested in client services?

I got interested in client services & virtual assistance because I always felt a sense of accomplishment when I know I have supported someone even in the simplest of ways, such as giving advice or providing a helping hand. It gives me confidence and makes me remember that i am worthy of something, in a certain way.

I realised I also wanted to help people and always want to find the most efficient way to help them out and provide them value.

What is your favourite thing about working at inspire?

It is definitely the working environment and the culture. Everyone is so warm, positive and the atmosphere is extremely family-like. Even though we’ve only engaged through screens & zoom thus far, everyone feels very familiar. I like that everyone is accommodating, friendly and very approachable.

I really love working here.

What is one of the biggest impacts you’ve made?

I feel like one of the biggest impacts that Keiffer and I have made is that we’ve been able to lessen the workload of our managers, Angela and Sequoia. As a result of our work, they can do a lot more work that they otherwise couldn’t have fulfilled with their given capacity. Keiffer and I are very much looking forward to learn more from our managers/mentors.

I really respect their advice and really take their words to heart. It makes me happy that they appreciate my work as well.

What are some books you recommend?

I would recommend ‘Game of thrones’. I am a huge GOT fan and Daenerys is my favourite character. It was recommended to me by my college friends and I loved it except the last season, which was quite a bummer.

Which Sustainable Development Goal(s) do you choose and why?

I would choose Quality Education and No Poverty. I feel that these goals have the most direct relationship with each other. If you live in poverty, you’ll struggle to get an education. In the Philippines, I’ve seen the situation many times both through my eyes and screens. Helping families in poverty will have a greater impact globally.
